My lodging arrangements with my cousin fell through, so after checking with Ecko at Hai Shan’s front desk, I’m planning on rescheduling a physical appointment for June/ July. My cousin’s kids (teenagers) will be out of school, freeing him up to comfortably help me.

Follow Up From Aug. 24th Visit

My bowel movements are firm and regular. I have been urinating more frequently at night (3 times) this last winter and am still cutting off liquids around 5:30 pm. Starting to drink more warm water, and that has been helping move back to urinating only twice a night.

I cut my left metacarpophalangeal joint’s cartilage/ tendon a month ago. The skin has healed, but I still have stiffness when bending the finger. As I previously informed you, I’ve been taking Bamboo Pearls as a substitute for Xiao Huoluo Dan, which you had recommended in your paper Stroke and Post-Stroke Syndrome: Prevention and Treatment by Chinese Herbal Medicine. That formula’s been working fine, especially with the recent cold winter weather. I’ve seen taking three Pearls a day. Do you think there’s enough Wujiapi in Bamboo Pearls at that dosage to heal my finger? Do you recommend another formula or adding Wujiapi to my main formula with a greater dosage?. I plan to discontinue Bamboo Pearls as the weather warms up.

My psoriasis is gradually healing. I still have a small lesion on the left corner of my forehead and around my left ear following the Gallbladder channel. A slightly larger lesion on my right anterior forehead along with the DU channel on my scalp. I’ve been using a topical cream for psoriasis, made by CeraVe, that contains salicylic acid, lactic acid, niacin-amide, ceramide, and urea. Most of the ingredients are aimed at locking in moisture and reducing lesions. Seems safe to me.

Can a higher dosage of Baihe be prescribed as my nasal passages are chronically dry (no bleeding or pain)?

I would like to spend a little time discussing the arc of spasticity. It appears that I’m at the height of the arc, but I’m curious about your take on the subject. I have my own theories that I want to share with you (the healing of motor neurons, cognitive trauma, and how they interrelate). I’m finally starting to accept what I’ve read about the stages of stroke recovery. The spasticity goes from no feeling to tight muscles and tendons (which has been steadily increasing with me for 4+ years), and then eventually starts to relax. I’m at the height in the Arc Of Spacticity. But I’m the type of person who gets more out of a discussion with someone they respect than from reading a book.

I’m continuing to stretch and do my qigong (standing and moving arms) practice 40 minutes twice a day. I stay reasonably active during the day, meaning I prepare all my own meals, wash my dishes, rest in the living room (50 feet from the bathroom), and try to walk without my cane when possible. I’m still walking the stairs on the side of our house for 40 minutes once a week and shopping at Whole Foods, walking with a cart for 45+ minutes once a week.

My relationship w/ my mother is continuing, meaning that I’m continuing to find acceptance and remain as calm as I can. Now I understand what my father went through and what the source of his cancer might have been. The stages of acceptance are awesome in their scope, whether we call what we’re accepting the source of the narcissistic abuse, post-traumatic stress, or encounters with the Kumiho.

There Qi stagnation pain (dull) on my spleen or liver channel at the level of my left knee on my non-stroke-affected side that I’ve had for a few months, probably from carrying some of the stress/ weight from my right (stroke affected) side not stepping fully.
